Developed jointly with AC Martin Partners, this 400-bed project on the campus of Chapman University in Orange, California will house freshman and sophomore students. The massing strategy organizes the project into four “houses,” based on Chapman’s student life model of 25 students per each residential advisor. These are arranged around a central courtyard, along with common facilities including study rooms, media rooms, a mail room and central laundry facilities. The 3- and 4-story buildings are built atop a two-level subterranean parking structure. The craftsman-style architecture responds to the context of the surrounding neighborhood.
